João Oliveira is an Assistant Professor at the University of Porto School of Business and Economics, in Portugal, where he teaches management accounting and control at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. In 2013, he is also a Visiting Professor at HEC Paris (Hautes Études Commerciales de Paris), teaching the courses of Methods of Cost Analysis and Performance Measurement and Management in the Masters in Management. He has previously taught at the Porto Business School and at the University of Dundee, UK. He has worked in the banking industry at Santander Bank and in the consumer products industry at Procter & Gamble. He has an MSc in Business Administration (Specialization in Accounting) from the University of Porto School of Business and Economics and a PhD in Accounting from the University of Dundee. He received the IBM PhD Fellowship Award and a PhD scholarship from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. His research interests include organizational change, information systems, Shared Services Centres, institutional theories and power. He recently (January 2013) co-authored the McGraw-Hill textbook “Management Accounting” and he published chapters on Research in Management Accounting and on Enterprise Resource Planning systems.
